The PGU Producers Mark (“p.g.u.”) is a certification issued by the Producers Guild Uganda (PGU) to recognize individuals who have made a significant, hands-on contribution to the production of a film, television, or digital media project. It ensures transparency, credibility, and integrity in Ugandan production credits by identifying true producers.
Purpose
To distinguish individuals who performed core producing responsibilities
To establish a standardized recognition system within Uganda’s creative industry
To build international trust in Ugandan producer credits
What the Mark Means
When you see “p.g.u.” after a producer’s name, it means:
The individual was actively involved from development to post-production.
They fulfilled the full producing responsibilities, not just financial or honorary roles.
Their contribution has been independently verified by PGU.
Eligibility Criteria
A producer may be eligible for the PGU Mark if they:
Are credited as a producer (or co-producer) on the project
Submit a Producers Mark Certification Application
Provide supporting documentation, such as:
Production timelines
Budget/crew involvement
Contracts or memos of understanding
Letters from director, production manager, or financiers
Core Producing Duties Considered
The PGU will evaluate duties in areas such as:
Development (sourcing IP, developing script)
Financing (raising or managing production budget)
Hiring Key Crew (director, cinematographer, cast)
Production Oversight (on-set problem-solving, risk management)
Post-Production (editing, music, delivery strategy)
Distribution involvement (planning or pitching)
Application Process
Apply through the PGU website form
Submit documentation
Review by the PGU Certification Committee
Receive decision in 2–4 weeks
If approved, you may use the “p.g.u.” designation in credits
Fees
Standard Application: UGX 50,000
Use of the Mark
Correct format:

Incorrect format:
Produced by PGU, Sarah Kintu
Sarah Kintu PGU member
Use is only permitted once approval is granted.
Revocation
PGU reserves the right to remove the mark if:
The application was misleading
The producer is involved in fraud or misconduct
The mark is misused in unauthorized contexts
