The PGU team held a productive meeting with the Uganda Tourism Board to strengthen the link between film and tourism. The discussion focused on positioning Uganda as a prime tourist and filming destination, and on advancing Co-Production Treaties to attract major international film projects to our beautiful country. Thanks to the members who showed up to meet with CEO Juliana Kagwa and her UTB team. We appreciate the audience you gave PGU.

For years, the Film Industry has faced numerous challenges — from limited support to being overlooked. But tides are turning.
PGU recently held a fruitful discussion with the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities (MoTWA), joined by its key agencies — the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).
Having previously met with each body individually, this joint engagement with the parent ministry marked a significant milestone.
We presented our key asks as a creative sector, highlighting the immense value Film brings — from empowering youth and boosting employment across creative disciplines, to contributing meaningfully to Uganda’s GDP and overall financial sustainability.
The Director of MoTWA expressed strong support, and we look forward to deeper collaborations that will simplify filmmaking processes and establish Co-production Treaties to strengthen international film partnerships.
The future is bright — and we’re pushing forward together.

We would love to hear from you! Reach out today.
