PGU Advancing Uganda’s Global Narrative Through Film

Advocacy

The Producers Guild of Uganda (PGU) continues to champion the transformative power of film as a tool for shaping and elevating Uganda’s global narrative. Following a strategic engagement with Rosa Malango, Special Presidential Envoy for Tourism & Trade, and cultural leadership under Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga, the Guild is advancing meaningful conversations on how Uganda’s rich history, culture, and identity can be harnessed through storytelling.

These engagements reflect a shared commitment to positioning Uganda as a source of authentic, compelling, and globally competitive content. By aligning film with national priorities such as tourism, cultural preservation, and economic growth, PGU is working to ensure that Ugandan stories are not only told—but told with excellence, accuracy, and impact on the world stage.

Film remains a powerful catalyst for national development by:

  • Showcasing Uganda’s identity, values, and untold stories
  • Driving tourism, trade, and international investment
  • Creating employment and opportunities across the creative economy
  • Preserving and celebrating cultural heritage for future generations
