The Producers Guild of Uganda (PGU) serves as a unified voice for Ugandan producers, advocating for their rights, recognition, and fair treatment in all policymaking and regulatory spaces. We understand that for producers to thrive, they must operate in a legislative and economic environment that supports their creative and entrepreneurial ambitions. PGU works tirelessly to represent the interests of its members before government bodies, regulatory authorities, and cultural institutions—ensuring that producers are consulted, respected, and protected in decisions that affect the industry.

Our advocacy efforts focus on key issues such as the implementation of fair and progressive regulations, tax incentives for production activities, streamlined licensing procedures, and robust copyright enforcement to safeguard producers’ intellectual property. We push for equitable access to public funding, grants, and film financing opportunities, while lobbying for national recognition of the film and television industry as a vital economic driver and cultural asset. By engaging in regular dialogue with lawmakers, policy developers, and development partners, PGU champions reforms that make Uganda a more attractive place to produce, distribute, and invest in content.

Beyond laws and policies, PGU’s advocacy extends to promoting a cultural shift in how the creative sector is perceived and valued. We aim to elevate the status of producers as key contributors to Uganda’s identity, heritage, and global image.
